Assigning a Door Phone to the NEC SL1100

This Tech Tip demonstrates how to assign a door phone to an Analog (SLT) port. This tip applies to the NEC SL1100 Phone System only.

Get Connected

This Tech Tip requires access to the phone system using NEC PCPro Programming Software. To download the latest version of PCPro or for instructions on how to connect your computer to the phone system, please read the following: How to Connect to the NEC SL2100 or SL1100 Phone System for Programming.

Requirements

If you have exceeded the first 4 analog ports, you will need one additional 8-Port Analog Card.

PCPro Programming Steps

For this example we will assign an NEC Door Phone to Extension 171. when the phone goes off hook, it will call Extension 101.

1. Go to Program 15-03: Single Line Telephone Basic Setup

2. Use the Extension Dropdown Menu to select “Extension 171: SLT Port 009”

3. Set the value of 15-03-19: Door Phone Number to “Door Phone 1”



4. Go to Program 21-11: Hotline Assignment

This Program is where we set the destination that the SLT extension calls when it goes off hook.

5. For Extension Number 171, set the Hotline Destination to “101”

Optional Step

If the SLT Ports are only being used for Door Phones, and not serving as both door phones & analog phones, then you may want to lower the Call Start Timer to improve Door Phone functionality.

1. Go to Program 21-01: Outgoing Calls System Options

2. Set the Value of 21-01-09: Hotline Call Start Timer to “1”

Opening Doors with Relays

Note: The NEC SL1100 can have 2 relays Max, per KSU.

1. Go to Program 10-61: Relay Port Setup

2. Set the value of 10-61-01: Relay Type to “Door Phone”

3. Set the value of 10-61-02: Destination Selection to “1”
This value refers to the Door Phone Number set in Program 15-03-19



4. To open a door, the user presses the Flash Key on their Multi Line Phone to trigger the Door Opener Relay, while talking to the SLT door phone extension.
