Adjusting the Volume of the DECT Cordless Phone

This Tech Tip will demonstrate how to make volume adjustments to an individual NEC DECT Cordless Phone (DTZ-8R-1), if the volume is too low or too high on either the transmit or receive audio.

Instructions

The audio gain (TX + RX) on the new NEC DECT Cordless Phone (DTZ-8R-1) is set to 0 db at default. If the volume is too low or too high on either the transmit or receive audio, you can make volume adjustments to the individual phone.

 1. Press the “Mute/Menu” key (located under the 4th line key)

2. Press the following keys consecutively on the numeric keypad: 1, 2, 3, #

“Service Menu” will now be displayed on the LCD screen.

3. Press the Down Arrow until the arrow is to the left of “Audio Gain Offset”
( >Audio Gain Offset )

4. Press the select button (center button between the up/down/left/right buttons) to select “Audio Gain Offset”

The default setting for Transmit and Receive Gain is 0db.

Modifying TX Gain

To modify the TX Gain, press the Up or Down Arrow to reach the desired TX level (+6, +4, +2, -2, -4, or -6).

Note: The -6 level has resolved issues with echo. 

Modifying RX Gain

To modify the RX Gain, press the Right Arrow button, then press the Up or Down Arrow to reach the desired RX level (+6, +4, +2, -2, -4, or -6).

Saving Your Changes

1. Press the Select/Enter button

2. Press the button under the word “Back” until you reach the Home Screen
