Automatic Software Updates on the NEC SL2100

This Tech Tip demonstrates how to enable automatic firmware updates on the NEC SL2100 Phone System using the WebPro interface. When configured, the system will connect to NEC’s update server at a scheduled time and apply the latest firmware, keeping your system up-to-date without manual intervention.

Get Connected

This procedure requires access to the NEC SL2100 using the PCPro Programming Software.

WebPro Programming Steps

⚠️ Important:

  • The system must have an active internet connection for automatic updates to work.
  • We strongly recommend backing up the phone system prior to enabling automatic updates.

  1. From the WebPro home screen, click the “Software Update” link on the left sidebar.
  2. In the update settings screen, check the box labeled “Enable.”
  1. Choose a day and time when the system can safely reboot without impacting phone usage.
⚠️ The system will reboot automatically after a firmware update, so be sure to select a time when this will not disrupt normal operations.
  2. Click the “Save” button.

What Happens Next

At the scheduled day and time, the SL2100 will connect to the NEC update server, check for any new firmware versions, and apply the update automatically if one is available. If no updates are available, the system will take no action.
