This Tech Tip will demonstrate how to make volume adjustments to an individual NEC DECT Cordless Phone (DTZ-8R-1), if the volume is too low or too high on either the transmit or receive audio.
Instructions
The audio gain (TX + RX) on the NEC DTZ-8R-1 cordless phone is set to 0 db by default. If the volume is too low or too high on either the transmit or receive side, you can adjust the gain on the individual handset.
- Press the
Mute/Menukey (located under the 4th line key). - Press the following keys consecutively on the numeric keypad:
1,2,3,#- The “Service Menu” will now be displayed on the LCD screen.
- Press the
Down Arrowuntil the arrow is to the left ofAudio Gain Offset
(displayed as>Audio Gain Offset) - Press the
Selectbutton (center button between the directional arrows) to selectAudio Gain Offset.
Default setting for both Transmit and Receive Gain is 0 dB.
Modifying TX Gain (Transmit Volume)
- Press the
UporDown Arrowto select a TX level:- Options:
+6,+4,+2,-2,-4,-6
- Options:
⚠️ Tip: The -6 level has been effective at resolving echo issues.
Modifying RX Gain (Receive Volume)
- Press the
Right Arrow, then use theUporDown Arrowto select a RX level:- Options:
+6,+4,+2,-2,-4,-6
- Options:
Saving Your Changes
- Press the
Select/Enterbutton to confirm the new gain settings. - Press the key below the word
Backrepeatedly until you return to the Home Screen.
